About me
Hi, I'm Stephanie Niatas
Special Education Instructional Assistant and Tutor with 25 years of experience creating inclusive, engaging, and individualised learning environments for students with diverse learning needs.
My story
Why I do this work
Originally from Long Island, NY, I have spent 25 years working alongside students with diverse learning needs — adapting instructional plans, promoting social-emotional development, and fostering positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
As a single mother of three children — two with special needs — I understand the struggles of students and their families on a deeply personal level. I was closely involved in my own children's education and development, both in school and at home. That experience drives everything I do.
I bring extensive knowledge in assistive technology, behaviour management strategies, and collaborative practices to every session. My commitment is to provide unique and meaningful learning opportunities that truly enrich the lives of students and their communities.
My strengths
What I bring to every session
Personal Experience
As a mother of children with special needs, I understand my students' and families' challenges on a personal level — and I am just as passionate about seeing them succeed.
Empathetic Listener
I use active listening to de-escalate challenging situations and create a supportive environment where students feel heard, safe, and understood.
Flexible Adaptability
I quickly adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet individual learning needs, ensuring meaningful and engaging experiences for every student.
Collaborative Team Player
I work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to develop effective strategies and ensure a cohesive, integrated approach to each student's education.
My philosophy
What I believe about learning
Every child deserves an education that celebrates their unique abilities and empowers them to succeed.
Confidence comes before content. When a child feels safe and understood, the learning follows naturally.
Parents are partners, not passengers. The best outcomes happen when we work together.
